SELECTION
OF PAINT COLOUR FOR YOUR OFFICE AND HOME
Selection of a proper colour
scheme plays a major role in your office or home. It gives you happiness, inspiration, motivation
etc. and makes you feel great. The
process of choosing a colour can be made easy by
analyzing your requirements and well planning.
Office :
Generally, an office is a busy place which employs
different categories of staff who are likely to get
stressed during working hours and as such a cool and calming effect should be
maintained in office. Cool colours such as blue and green are most appropriate or either choose cool colours green
to red violet for a calming effect.
However, make sure the colours
you select match with the office furniture, ceiling and flooring.
Choosing of colours also
depends on the lighting system prevailing in an office. If it receives a significant amount of
natural light, bright colours should not be selected
as it will look too bright. If the
office receives less lighting, choosing of bright colours
would be appropriate.
If an office is made of separate cubicles with
glass partitioning which makes visible from one room to another, the colour scheme chosen should match with one another.
Home:
In selecting colours for
a home, the living room could be with white or neutral grey and beiges for the
walls and ceiling to have resemblance with the window & door curtains and
the floor. The external walls could be a
darker colour of the internal walls.
Buying
Paints:
Once you have planned the colours
you want to purchase, go to your nearby paint shop and obtain colour samples. You
can try the paint colours on a sample board or wall
and observe the painted sample wall at different times of the day, with and
without lights. Hold the paint samples
against furniture, curtains, floor and other accessories to see if you prefer
the colour scheme.
Colour Combination:
Once you have decided the colours
you wish to use in your office or home, you can use different colour schemes to enhance the look of your office or home. Combine varying shades of a particular colour. For eg: a light blue wall paint goes well with a slightly more
saturated version of the same blue as a trim colour. Use colours that
are next to each other like light pink and dark pink with red, or blues
combined with acqua or even purple. A warm brown and cream colour
will look marvelous with natural wooden furniture.
